We were deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Phil in January 2022. He was a mentor, friend, partner, and trusted advisor to many.
Phil began his investment industry career in 1966. He loved to tell the story of his first official title, which was “Customer’s Man.” He continued to evolve with the industry and was one of the first financial advisors granted discretionary portfolio management authority in the 1980s. Phil loved high-quality, dividend-increasing companies and continued to focus on them throughout his entire life.
One of his many passions was mentoring students and promoting their growth in the field of finance. He was highly active in this community, spending nearly 10 years as a volunteer professor at Cal Poly co-teaching the Student Managed Portfolio. He was also a member and president of the Five Cities Men’s Club, a local non-profit organization that raises funds to support philanthropic endeavors throughout San Luis Obispo.
